The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous body set up to evolve and implement world class processes of assessment and selection of personnel for various client organizations. The foundation of the Institute is based on the philosophy of Speed, Accuracy and Confidentiality in all its activities and it strives to achieve this through a blend of moden technology and academic expertise.

IBPS provides its service to all Public Sector Banks, SBI, Associate Banks of SBI, RBI, NABARD, SIDBI, few Co.op. Banks, LIC & Insurance companies which are regular members of the IBPS society. In addition to that Regional Rural Banks. Many Public Sector undertaking of Non-Financial sectors. Government Department. State owned companies and corporations also avail its services. Some major universities and reputed Management Institutes engage IBPS regularly for conduct of their "Admission Tests".

During the year 2017-18, total 1.09 crore candidates registered for various IBPS Examinations. This itself is an achievements of the institute. This indicates that more candidates are getting attracted towards job opportunities in Banking, insurance and Financial sectors and directly ! indirectly, are showing their confidence in the system of the Online tests conducted by IBPS which are absolutely fair, transparent and test of job relevant skills, aptitudes and knowledge.

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.

i) Descriptive Test : The Descriptive Test of 30 mins duration with 50 Marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter writing & essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.

Phase III : Group Exercises (20 Marks) & Interview (30 Marks)

The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and the Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category.
